Sergei Bortkiewicz (1877 - 1952) was a Russian composer and pianist. St. Petersburg conservatory, he studied at the music and Anatoly Liadov was one of his teachers.

He left St. Petersburg and Liepzig to travel further research. The Russian went back to 1904, shortly after the two got married and moved to Berlin. He lived in Berlin in 1914. At this time, and wrote that he had to go to the concert tour.

The first World War changed his life. A Russian is, eventually he was forced to leave Germany. When he returned to Russia and his family, he found that the estate may have been stolen during the revolution. After the war, Russia was the holidays, Constantinople and Paris end up, ultimately to Berlin again. Flee Nazi Germany and to take control after he was again in 1933. Although he applied for Austrian citizenship, he was still considered a Russian, and the Nazis banned his music and it was not acting. He spent the rest of his life in Vienna, composing and teaching. He was a noted concert pianist with a gift to be, not so holy, he concentrated on composing. His biggest influence was Tchiakovsky and Liszt, and he was the love of all his career. He had a gift for melody, he was very meticulous, and his orchestration was lush and full. The earth shattering, is not creative musician, but he knew how to make a good psychological effect.

The first piano concerto premiered by Danish pianist Hugo Van Dalen 1913 in effect as a single composer, and Berlin.
